Is Kristie Lu Stout the lovechild of
Nana Mouskouri and a Guinness heir?

I finally caught Spark, the CNN tech show hosted by the lady with the unfortunate surname Kristie Lu Stout.

There she was schmoozing (or should I say draping herself around)with the likes of Tim "Moneybags" Draper and being pally with Craig "eBay has nothing on me" Newmark of Craig's List.

The camera pans to a shot of Kristie standing in front of Intel's HQ and then it occurs to me.

My god - what the hell is she wearing!?!

In half-pants with strings at each end and a shirt that surely came out of a night market stall in a darkened alley of Kuala Lumpur, Kristie looked the ultimate fashion victim. A 28-year-old timewarped in a 16-year-old's outfit from the 70s!

I always thought Kristie needed an extreme makeover. She was right up there with CNN's Bush-jacket twins Christiane Amanpour and Becky "Call Me A Lesbo Already" Anderson.

Kristie's long, flowing center-parted coiffure - a complete anomaly in 21st century TV-land - surely needed to be beamed up by Scotty - wherever he may be.

And then it struck me. Doesn't she look like that bland-looking, screechy-voiced Greek singer Nana Mouskouri?

A Google Image search turned up the truth.

Your honour, I submit below fashion evidence No 1 of the Nana-Kristie connection.

Black is the preferred colour of both walking ward-robe disasters.

In my humble opinion, your honour, it must have happened on a tour to Ireland.

Naughty Nana. And to think you sounded so innocent on my black and white TV all those years ago. No wonder Kristie has that indefinable accent. I know now what a Greek-Irish amalgamation would sound like.

["Jus' hand over the Guinness lass?".
"What? What you mean, Paddy? I run the restaurant, I cook, I clean, I wash for you AND I raise three kids AND I teach Sunday school, you know? You think I'm some stupid Irish gal? Gamiese apo ton ngolo!!"]

Your honour, may I present, future subjects of the BBC's What Not To Wear series, fashion evidence No 2:

Note that Kristie has a predilection for kaftans, much like her Tall, Skinny Greek Mamma.

And the pièce de résistance, from this thorough, exhaustive CSI-like examination of the fashion evidence, your honour, may I humbly submit the movie that sums up her pent-up inability to get past her roots and Freudian desire to "look fabulous" here:

I rest my case.

MY name is rehd Im out of NY,and I know a beautiful woman when I see on,and kristie is VERY beautiful! granted her fashion sense is not striking,at least in her on air choices for her show anyway,But Im sure that if she put her mind to it she could work her model slim frame into some very nice coture! I think it has more to do with her operating out of asai than anything else(her bad on air fashion sense! But to simply put it,Kristie is a bombshell waiting for the right "spark" to set her off!

You are out of your mind. She's the most beautiful newswoman on TV. Why you would spend so much time penning such wit to tear her down escapes me. I get it. You really think she's hot but know you could never have her, or be her. So... hell, why not trash her fashion sense. Ah, blogs. What did we do before they existed.

Haha, hilarious! You talk nonsense, really. KLS is by far the most beautiful newsanchor, and surely the flower of CNN. So beautiful and so charming!

(And why is her wardrobe bad?)

P.S. Nana Mouskouri is not skinny.

I must admit Kristie Lu Stout is a fascinating woman and somehow, due to a certain similarity, she became like a role model to me.It would be nice to know more about her, I mean the "hidden part":how did she get to work for CNN, is it true that she is a millionaire(besides her modesty), some guys that she dated, how old is the husband....I am quite sure she had a spectacular "rise" and would be interesting to find about the person behind the screen.
